The Lincoln Penny was first issued in 1909 to commemorate Abraham Lincoln´s 100th birthday. It was the first American coin to bear a president´s image on its face. Also known as the "wheat penny," this design, minted until 1958, features two stylized wheat stalks on its reverse. The coin was designed by Victor David Brenner, whose initials were highly visible on the reverse until public controversy forced their removal. In 1918, they were minimized and moved to the obverse below Lincoln´s shoulder. Now, an original Lincoln Wheat Penny has been gold-plated and inlaid into a richly detailed coin--the perfect way to highlight this numismatic classic in your collection!Limitation: 9,999 complete collectionsMaterial: copper nickel with gold-plated inlayWeight: 32 gramsIssue year: 2001Diameter: 40 mm (Approx. 1.6 in.)Quality: ProofObverse: Icons of early American historyReverse: U.S. Capitol and eagleCustomer can only order up to 5 pcs.
